On top of the massive sulfide mineralizations, exhalite levels are usually formed by jasper, chert and carbonates, related to Fe-Mn-Ba mineralizations. The structure of Maralhas, at the Aljustrel VMS deposit, was studied and the following mineral phases were identified: magnetite, hematite, goethite, pyrolusite and psilomelane.
