Abstract(s)
A região das Minas do Braçal, Malhada, Coval da Mó, cerca de
30 km a nordeste de Aveiro, situa-se na parte NW do Maciço Ibérico, mais
concretamente na região noroeste da Zona de Cisalhamento Porto-Tomar.
A atividade mineira nesta região remonta à ocupação romana da Península,
intensificou-se a meados do século XIX e cessou na década de setenta do
século passado. Esta região tem sido objeto de estudos geológicos
aprofundados e alvo de campanhas de Prospeção, ainda que dispersas. Este
trabalho apresenta uma campanha de Prospeção Geofísica numa área de
cerca de 42 km2 na região envolvente das antigas minas do Braçal, Malhada
e Coval da Mó. A campanha incluiu mapeamentos magnético, de campo
total, e gravimétrico. Os dados foram processados de modo a extrair e
potenciar a informação geológica, estrutural e mineira. Assim são
apresentados mapas regionais, residuais, de gradientes e desconvolução de
Euler interpretados com a informação geológica e mineira conhecida.
The Braçal-Malhada, Coval da Mó mines region, 30 km northeast of Aveiro, is located on the NW part of the Iberian Massif in the area of the Porto-Tomar shear Zone. Mining activity dates from the Roman occupation times of the Iberian Peninsula, reached its peak in mid-19th century and finished in the 60/70’s of the last century. Several geological studies have been undertaken in this region, but only limited and sparse exploration surveys have been done in the area. This work presents the results of a Geophysical Exploration survey over an area of about 42 km2. The survey consisted of magnetic (total field) and gravity mapping. Data were processed to extract regional, and produce residuals, gradients, and Euler deconvolution maps to be compared with local geological, tectonic and mining information.
