ABSTRACT: This study compares the performance of three geometric configurations: Fixed Structure, one-axis and two-axis trackers for 12 sites at different latitudes in Mexican United States, ranging from 16.85ºN to 31.66ºN. For each geometric configuration and latitude, the final specific production Yf is obtained as a function of Ground Cover Ratio GCR. In turn, for any GCR, the inclination angle "β" is optimized for Fixed Structure, and the directional GCRNS (in the North-South direction) for two-axis tracker. Compared to Fixed Structure, and for sites with low diffuse fraction, it is observed that one-axis tracker has a little gain change with latitude, between 23.03% and 24.04%, while two-axes tracker has more noticeable gain change, ranging from 30.96% to 36.04%. At sites with a similar diffuse fraction, the gain of two-axis tracker relative to one-axis increases with latitude, from 5.58% (low latitudes) to 10.33% (high latitudes). The smaller the diffuse fraction, the more suitable will be pointing at the sun, the greater the diffuse fraction, the more appropriate pointing at the zenith.
