RESUMEN: Uno de los objetivos del Grupo de Expertos en Geoquímica de la Asociación de Servicios de Geología y Minería Iberoamericanos es intercambiar conocimientos de geoquímica de exploración y cartografía geoquímica como resultado de la experiencia de cada Servicio Geológico. Actualmente, el grupo de
expertos ha comenzado a probar una metodología para recopilar información para el Mapa Geoquímico
de América Latina. La referencia continental es la Red Terrestre Global (GTN) de Darnley et al. (1995)
tomando celdas de 40x40 km en lugar de 160x160 km. Se recogerán los datos geoquímicos de celda y se
determinará un valor medio (mediana o media geométrica). El medio seleccionado para producir el mapa
será los sedimentos de corriente, dado que la mayoría de los Servicios Geológicos utilizan y tienen datos
de archivo de geoquímica de sedimentos de corriente de proyectos de exploración previos. La información geológica y de recursos minerales en cada celda de 40x40 km también formará parte de la tabla de atributos que compondrá la base de datos. El criterio para nivelar los datos entre conjuntos de datos contiguos será la mayor similitud entre los métodos de análisis químicos. El mapa geológico continental del mapa metalogénico de América Latina y el Caribe también se utilizará para el mapa geoquímico de América Latina y el Caribe. Este mapa contendrá tantos elementos químicos como sea posible a escala continental.
ABSTRACT: One of the objectives of the Geochemistry Expert Group of the Association of Geological Surveys of Ibero-America is to exchange knowledge of exploration geochemistry and geochemical mapping resulting of the experience of each Geological Survey. Currently, the group of experts has begun testing methodology to collect information for the Geochemical Map of Latin America. The continental data unit used is the Global Terrestrial Network (GTN) of Darnley et al. (1995) but instead of 160x160 km, it will have a cell of 40x40 km on each side. The geochemical data will be collected in each cell, and a mean value (median or geometric mean) will be determined. The medium used to carry out the harmonization of the information will be stream sediments, since most Geological Surveys use and have archive of stream sediment geochemistry data from previous exploration projects. The geological and mineral resource information of the 40x40 km cell will also be part of the attribute table that will make up the database. The criterion for leveling data between contiguous data sets will be the greatest similarity between chemical analysis methods. The continental geological map of the metallogenic map of Latin America and the Caribbean will also be used for the geochemical map of Latin America and the Caribbean. This map will contain as many chemical elements as possible on a continental scale.
